SPRING COLOR

Warmer days coaxed the tulips to finally unfold.

These flowers were worth the wait!

The facilities management missionaries work hard
to make the grounds around the Trail Center look so lovely.

Chasing a little cardinal around the gardens finally paid off...
he stopped to rest long enough for me to snap his picture!

We have enjoyed a display of paintings by
Liz Lemon Swindel at the Trail Center since March.

These beautiful paintings on the life of the Savior
are part of a traveling art exhibit which recently came
from the San Diego Mormon Battalion Visitor Center.

After the paintings leave here the end of June
they will go to the Independence Visitor Center.
They have been a great missionary tool,
bringing in many visitors to the center.

THE HUMPHRIES AND LESUES VISIT WINTER QUARTERS

We loved taking our long-time friends
on a tour of the Trail Center.

The picnic area outside the Trail Center
was a perfect spot to barbeque our dinner.

While we waited for the tri-tip to get done
we helped take out tulips so the new bedding plants could be put in,
and got to keep the tulip bulbs!

 The masters at barbequing tri-tip....
Done to perfection!

 Spending time together,
talking about the good old Santa Barbara days!

Enjoying the beautiful spring flowers at the Trail Center.

We haven't changed all that much over the past 48 years....

SPRINGTIME IN OMAHA

Our friends from Southern Virginia University, Jay & Ida Jorgenson,
stopped in Omaha to see us on their way to the New York South Mission,
where they will be serving for the next 18 months.

Taking the Jorgensons on a tour of the Kanesville Tabernacle
in Council Bluffs on our day off.

At the Trail Center checking out the tulips
that finally opened the first of May.

Spring was late in coming, so not a good year for the tulips
which are just now struggling to bloom.

The senior couples at a breakfast honoring the
Nordhoffs who finished their mission April 30th
and are returning home to Utah.

 A view from our balcony:
...just when you think spring has finally arrived for good....!

 Tulips in the snow.

All the young missionaries at the Trail Center
saying good-bye to the Nordhoffs (back row right)
and sister Pryde, (front center) who finished their missions.
